A poem I wrote just now, no editing done.
Watching the Rain
She’s all alone again,
Watching the rain trail paths of silver and orange down the glass.
She stares through her window,
Searching the dark for answers.
Left on her own to unravel the tangles in her mind.
She knows what she should feel,
and can’t reconcile herself to it.
Unreasonable again.
Terrified to voice it, she swallows it again.
Even here, alone, she buries it.
Unable to face it in herself
She’s so full of things she doesn’t say.
Things she’s convinced she can’t say.
The demons in her heart, in her mind won’t let her sleep.
The shadows that plague her steps,
They love the rain.
They feed on her melancholy and nip at her heels.
She sits by her window,
Biting her tongue and trying to purge the dark from her soul.
But she’s lost in her own knotted paths,
Bound up in all the things she keeps inside.
She stares into the darkness,
Searching for answers that never come.
